Your April Wish List Is Here

As April wears on, and the sun starts to shine out from behind the overcast grey sleaze every day, there’s an impending sense of summer. Legs come out, people smile more, St.Tropez fake tan seems to be harder to find in your local Boots.

What this means is more colour, more freedom in how we dress. Happiness literally injected into how we bare ourselves to the world. Yes, it’s only April, described by some as the cruellest month, but it’s also a time to look forward to the future and all the fun waiting for us right around the corner.

I am obsessed with Magda Butrym lately, and love her rose detail (AW22, anyone?!) which adorned dresses to tops to bikini bottoms. I’ve also discovered my love for Toral, a Spanish shoe brand that specialises in funky cowboy boots. Unbeknownst to me, I actually already owned a white pair that I bought from Annie’s Ibiza in Carnaby Street, but they come in all different colours and funky prints. Anya Taylor-Joy is a self-confessed fan and apparently has a pair in every colour.

I haven’t quite signed on to the resurgence of Balenciaga’s new and improved City bag, but I have signed on to the boots. Seen on Dua Lipa (I almost wrote Dula Peep, sorry not sorry), Camille Charrière, Julia Hobbs, and Kendall Jenner, they are a hot ticket – get them while you can.

With spring in the air and summer just around the bend, there’s no brand better for gorgeous, summery dresses that you can dress up and dress down than Bec + Bridge. Affordable, good quality, and designs that somehow haven’t taken off yet in Europe – everyone will be asking you where you got that dress from. If you want to keep the brand our little secret, I won’t judge – as long as we can share. I can’t buy them all, you know! I have energy bills to pay!

As I mentioned in my SS22 breakdowns, gauzy, slinky maxi-dresses are going to be in every fashion-forward’s wardrobe this summer – or not rather, as they’ll be wearing them instead. Saks Potts does a fantastic white number which is perfect for dinner in the South of France with some cheeky knickers showing. Missoni also does some great ones which you can wear to the beach, or again to dinner outside on a hot summer’s night. If you really want to push the boat out, Khaite has made my dream dress covered in Swarovski crystals. Maggie Rogers wore it in her new music video, ‘That’s Where I Am,’ and it’ll only cost you a cool £19,000. Sexy and daring, these dresses are like Tinkerbell. You can only pull them off if you believe you can.

If all goes well for me, I’ll be wearing a Magda Butrym dress (à la Dakota Johnson, and even Lorde on tour) and some Versace platform sandals for my birthday dinner in early May. But first, I have to choose which one…
